Historic Ironwood Theatre – Ironwood, Michigan’s Cultural Centerpiece
The Historic Ironwood Theatre (HIT)- Built in 1928, the recent restored theatre has a rich history of providing outstanding entertainment. The Mission of the theatre is to provide cultural entertainment of the highest possible quality to the greatest number of citizens in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Northern Wisconsin.
The HIT is located in Ironwood’s beautiful historic downtown and is the cultural and artistic centerpiece to Ironwood’s growing arts community and district. Showing on average one show every other week (pre-COVID), the theatre serves as an entertainment venue residents and visitors and a social venue for all to enjoy the show together.
The HIT is excited to announce a new (2022) initiative by their program team: Cinema Series will present two movies per month, including family-friendly Sunday matinees. Stop in for a fun movie and grab some popcorn!

The box office is open to handle all your ticket purchasing (online ordering available) and other theatre needs. Office Manager Lori Hendges and her wonderful crew of office volunteers will be available Monday thru Friday between Noon and 4:00pm. Stop in for tickets, to check out our available merchandise, or just to say hello! We look forward to serving you.
Theatre’s Mission
Committed to delivering community value, the HIT:
- Provides a community gathering point in a magnificent historic building for plays, silent movies, music, and dance performances;
- Offers a forum for youth to grow through active participation in the performing arts;
- Presents meaningful experiences that expose audiences to current social topics and local history through interpretive programs and events; and,
- Maintains the theatre building and preserves the facility for future generations.
