Downtown Art Place
The mission of the DAP is to promote and sustain the creation and appreciation of the visual arts in the greater Ironwood area, (encompassing Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties in Michigan and Iron and Vilas Counties in Wisconsin). The DAP is also dedicated to promoting local and regional artists in its galleries, gift shop, and arts education and is committed to partnering with its neighbor, the Historic Ironwood Theatre. Visit the Downtown Art Place gallery and studios or take in one of the classes or events throughout the year.

Downtown ArtPlace Studios is located at 107 E. Aurora St., Ironwood, MI.
It’s two doors over from the DAP Gallery.
You’ll find artists, basket makers and authors at work upstairs in their studios.
See original artwork in oils and watercolors, handcrafted jewelry, basketry, origami, photography, mixed media, graphic arts and more.
If you love seeing vintage woodwork and tile, visit this historic three story building built in 1924, it feels like a step back in time!
DAP Pottery Studio
At the DAP Pottery Studio clay is our passion.
Whether novice or experienced, our comprehensive selection of offerings ensures there is something for everyone.
Located in the lower level of the Downtown Art Place, our Pottery Studio offers 1,000 sq. ft. dedicated to ceramics. We offer six pottery wheels, two electric kilns, plenty of storage, and a classroom area.
No matter your skill level, you can partake in and benefit from our diverse pottery classes. Our class sizes are small to ensure one-on-one instruction. Never thrown on a wheel before? – try a pottery class. Experienced and want to expand your pottery ability? – book studio time and use our facilities.
The DAP Pottery Studio’s mission is to encourage creativity and an understanding of quality handcrafted art through its pottery classes.

It’s our mission to teach generations to value the power, the passion and the significance of art.
We have a passion to dramatically increase the abilities and therefore
the number of children who participate in the arts.
Creativity is the foundation of innovation. We believe true creativity comes forth when mastery of core skills is combined with original thought. The DAP Classroom helps children develop the skills and confidence, using the right tools to continue participating in the arts throughout their lifetime.
The DAP Classroom offers art classes that are child-friendly and with relevant subject matter to spark interest and increase knowledge retention, never losing sight that children learn best when they are engaged and entertained.
