Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is 15 miles west of Ontonagon in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The park’s 60,000 acres are one of the few remaining large wilderness areas in the Midwest. Black River Harbor Recreation Area

Known for its spectacular waterfalls, idyllic beaches, scenic hiking trails and tranquil campground, the Black River Harbor Recreation Area is a popular destination throughout the year. Originating in Wisconsin, the Black River flows through forested areas of large pine, hemlock and hardwood trees. The River has a series of scenic waterfalls as it drops in elevation to meet Lake Superior. Tannin (tanic acids)from hemlock trees is what gives it its unique color. (more…)

Little Girls Point

Take a break and unplug on this simple, but well maintained County Park and Beach. Little Girls Point extends over a half mile along Lake Superior. The beach is a magnet for rock pickers and agate hunters with crystal clear water to swim, paddle and float the day away. If you look Northwest you can see the Apostle Islands and Northeast, the Porcupine Mountains. There is a picnic area with 2 pavillions, picnic tables, grills and stone buildings with restrooms. Also camping sites lake side or wooded all close to the beach. The extension camp is available to rent for reunions, weddings and get togethers. Curry Park

Curry Park provides camping sites and full RV hookups in a convenient location just of U.S. Highway 2 in Ironwood. It is located next to the Gogebic County Fairgrounds, providing access to U.S. 2 businesses, waterfalls, and trails.

Sylvania Wilderness

The Sylvania Wilderness and Sylvania Recreation Area, is located near Watersmeet, Michigan and is part of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Combined with the adjacent Recreation Area, this 18,327 acre wilderness offers an outstanding experience for those who want to camp, fish, hike, canoe, ski, or enjoy the solitude of a wilderness experience. Few Wilderness compare to Sylvania. Here you will find 34 named lakes – some with sandy beaches, others surrounded by record-sized red and white pines. Lake Gogebic County Park

Lake Gogebic Camping

The Lake Gogebic County Park is located at N8598 Hwy-M64 in Marenisco, Michigan with direct access to Lake Gogebic. There are 53 electric (30-50 amp) camp sites total, and 27 sites that include water. This campground offers seasonal sites which can be occupied from mid-May to the end of September. There are a number of sites also available for nightly or monthly camping reservations. Lake Gogebic County Park offers a pavilion with picnic tables, playground equipment, on-site boating access for a fee of $2/day or $10/annual pass, an on-site dump station and provides camper sewage waste service for a minimal fee.

Amenities available for day use include a swimming area, access to the pier, playground equipment, picnic area, and restroom facilities. The pavilion can also be reserved for a fee of $25/day.

The dock at the Lake Gogebic County Park provides a convenient way for campers to fish. There are several restaurants located along the lake shore for visitors to enjoy as well.

McDonald Lake

Located on McDonald Dam Road in Ironwood, Michigan and unique from the other two campgrounds operated by the Forestry and Parks Commission, as it is a rustic campground. There is no fee at this campground and the campsites are designed for tenting only on a first come first serve basis. There is a total of six designated sites. The three sites on the lake shore have tenting pads and fire rings, the island sites do not. (more…)

Beautiful Sunday Lake is situated in the center of the city of Wakefield and is home to Eddy Park and Campground. The park offers a comfortable sandy beach and swimming area, pavilions available or rent, a boat launch, and a large playground.

Webber Lake

Weber Lake

Weber Lake located in Upson, Wisconsin is an excellent panfish and trout fishing lake. At 61 acres, it also makes a relaxing paddle in your kayak or canoe. Weber Lake is a slow-no wake lake. Whitecap Mountain Resort and Skye Golf is adjacent to the County Park property.

Weber Lake has 11 campsites which include 9 electrical sites and 2 non-electrical. Water is available. Pit toilets with changing area. Boat launch, playground and swimming area. ATV trail access to Trail 6.

Pesque-Isle-River–compressor

Presque Isle State Park & River

This hike combines the East and West River Trails for a scenic hike along the Presque Isle River, which runs through the Porcupine Mountains State Park. The river has strong currents and sections of rapids, as well as three main waterfalls, Nawadaha Falls, Manido Falls, and Manabezho Falls, which measures 25 feet high. (more…)

Shomberg County Park

Shomberg Park

Campground

Schomberg Park was renovated in 2009 adding 10 electrical campsites, 4 walk-in tent sites, restrooms with showers, pavilion, dump station and ATV wash station.

ATV trail access along with overflow or day use parking with a loading ramp are adjacent to the campground.

Schomberg Park is open from approximately May 15 through October 15. RVs welcome. The pavilion is reservable for family gatherings and parties.

Henry Lake

Henry Lake Campground

Located in Gogebic County 9 miles southwest of the town of Marenisco, Mi., on the Bessemer Ranger District in the southern half of the Ottawa National Forest. Henry Lake Campground is a single loop campground with 11 campsites that are spaced with natural vegetation for screening. Henry Lake Campground provides drive-in sites that can accommodate tents, trailers, and motor homes. Each site offers an accessible wood table, fire ring and parking spur. Two single vault toilets are located near the fee station, while water is provided in the camping loop.

Bobcat Lake

Bobcat Lake

Located in Gogebic County just 3 miles southeast of Marenisco, Mi., on the Bessemer Ranger District in the southern half of the Ottawa National Forest. Bobcat Lake campground features one loop with 11 campsites. Campsites are bordered by vegetation providing privacy between sites. These drive in sites offer a tent pad, wood table, fire ring, lantern post and gravel parking spur. Two accessible vault toilets are located in the campground and water is provided by a centrally located hand pump in the loop. A sandy beach and day use area, complete with vault toilets, tables, grills and changing house is located 1/2 mile east of the campground. Also adjacent to the campground is a boat ramp which provides access to a variety of game fish.

Saxon Harbor is located on Lake Superior’s Oronto Bay in Iron County, Wisconsin, United States. The harbor, adjacent to Oronto Creek, is a part of a county park that includes deep sea fishing, camping and a sandy beach stretching for four miles westward.
