Calling all ice fishing enthusiasts to join locals in some fun and affordable ice fishing competitions. Some of the events are family friendly and open to all ages. Check out the flyers for all details and information.

Free Fishing Weekend in Michigan

The state of Michigan offers two free fishing weekends every year and the winter weekend is just around the corner on Saturday, February 14th and Sunday, February 15th. The fishing license fees are waived for those two days for all local residents and out of state visitors (all normal fishing regulations still apply). Plan on visiting any of the Upper Peninsula’s state parks? A recreation passport will not be required for entry into the state parks and boating access sites during free fishing weekends.

1st Annual Hooks & Ladders Ice Fishing Classic

  • Saturday, February 7th 
  • Presented by Marenisco Township Volunteer Fire Department and Lake Gogebic Fire Department.
  • Entry Fee: $25 per angler (pre-registration required)
  • $30 for same day registration.
  • Children 12 & under free with adult participant
